There are a range of transportation types out there, from small trailers to large trucks. Consider the type and size of items you have in each room before selecting a moving truck size.

Sort things by category.

Make a list of everything you have by room, and then sort by category. This will help you determine the types of packing materials you’ll need, as well as the amount. Figuring this out ahead of time will save you aggravation later.

Pick the right moving day.

Select a moving day that works best for you. Keep in mind the time it takes to load the truck, drive to your location, and unload the truck. You’ll may also want to start unpacking some items once you’re into your new space. Allow extra time for this to avoid extra stress on moving day.

Create a master to-do list.
